About this collection

There is a rare, elusive word that names a feeling difficult to define yet familiar to many: Monachopsis. A neologism combining the Ancient Greek monakhós (solitary) and ópsis (vision), it describes the subtle, persistent sense of not quite belonging, a quiet dissonance between self and surroundings.

A melancholy without drama, an echo that lingers in the background of daily life.

With this new series of five digital works, Louis Dazy gives form to this suspended, intimate, and universal state of being. Monachopsis does not illustrate but suggests, each composition becomes a liminal space where reality and imagination brush against each other without ever fully merging. Surreal architectures, cinematic lighting, and layered textures construct dreamlike environments that seem conjured at twilight, when the boundaries between inside and outside, near and far, begin to blur.

Dazy’s aesthetic moves between evocation and silence. He does not seek answers but lets questions emerge: what happens when beauty is tinged with solitude? When the longing for connection goes unheard, yet remains no less powerful? Monachopsis inhabits these emotional interstices, where distance is not only physical but perceptual, a space that brushes past you, soft and unfixed.

This collection is an invitation to slow your gaze, to listen to the emotional undercurrent we often ignore. To recognize, in the dissonance with the world, a subtle form of poetry.

Digital Surreal Artist

Louis Dazy’s work is a visual portal into fleeting moments—memories caught between reality and dreams, nostalgia and the unknown. His art captures cinematic stills from a film that was never made, where emotions linger like neon reflections on rain-slicked streets.

Influenced by the aesthetics of the 1950s and 1980s, his imagery is drenched in red—a color that pulses with passion, mystery, and longing. At the heart of his compositions, a portrait often emerges: a woman lost in thought, wrapped in an atmosphere of melancholy or introspection. These figures exist within layered compositions, where reflections distort time, and different stories intertwine within the same frame.

Dazy is drawn to duality—past and present, light and shadow, seen and unseen. His images frequently evoke the sensation of looking through a window into something intimate yet unreachable, a world suspended between reality and illusion. Through photography, AI, animation, and videography, he explores the intersection of human emotion and the surreal, creating visual poetry that invites the viewer to step into a dream.

Each artwork is a story left unfinished, an echo waiting to be answered.
